Hyundai’s new mid-size luxury sedan will arrive in showrooms later this year and the biggest news is that the South Korean brand will now offer both rear- and all-wheel drive models.

The 2015 Genesis debuts Hyundai’s new design language, which will soon spread to other models. The car uses the same engines as before, but with slightly less horsepower and what is supposed to be a broader torque curve for more accessible power.

The 3.8-liter V6 makes 311 hp and is the only engine Hyundai will offer U.S. customers with all-wheel drive capability. The 420-hp 5.0-liter V8 model is also being offered, but only as a rear-driver there. However, Hyundai will market all-wheel drive variants of both the V6 and V8 models north of the border in Canada.

An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission option. Other changes include a revised and simplified cabin with higher quality materials. The base price will be under $40,000, but Hyundai didn’t offer more details during the car’s debut in Detroit.
